The concept of cloud computing roots back from 1950 and it has been showing its dominance in the information technology field till to date and is being adopted and preferred by most of the people. Cloud computing can be considered as a networking technology that involves the network of number of computers connected with the help of internet. Started from the sharing of the information back in times, now the cloud computing has taken different forms and is being adopted in different fields as well depending upon the requirements. It has evolved in the form of a package with number of features that will be suitable for different industries as well.
The information has been shared with number of people over the internet, however it can be said as the start of the cloud computing, the next step was the sharing of resources under the roof of a network. Cloud computing has evolved in the following shapes like Software as a Service, Platform as a Service, Managed Service Providers, Internet Integration, Web Services and storage services. The cloud computing has seen decades of its transformation in information technology (Eric Knorr, n.d.). The transformation does not only includes the introduction of new services aforementioned, however it also includes the improvement in the quality of services being provided.
The security of the information has been a challenge in the cloud computing, the improvement in the encryption methodologies during the data transfer and storage has been improved as well that lets the people to adopt the cloud computing and use it as a trusted source of information. Sharing of resources and the information over the network with the help of cloud computing has improved so much that it has helped the organization and companies to offer their services at affordable prices with the security (Cheney, 2013). It is eminent that the cloud computing has seen major advancements in it, but it cannot be said it is the end of its advancement and adaptability or it is totally free from any risks. It is not wrong to say that with the advent in technology, the threats to the information and resources are also increasing that requires the work of the organizations to ensure the security of the information.
